CEO – Gallagher Caribbean Group

Michael Thornhill is the Company’s newly appointed Group Chief Executive Officer. Michael started his career in Insurance and has built up over 25 years’ experience as a Commercial Underwriter and Broker.

He is well versed in negotiating and placing complex commercial insurances for large multinational corporations around the world and has been very customer-centric and solution oriented. Michael is qualified as a Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP), has his certification in Risk Management and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.   

Prior to joining Gallagher in 2016 at our Halifax office in Canada, Michael’s working history spanned companies such as AON, Ecclesiastical Insurance Group and Guardian Insurance. As Group CEO for Gallagher Caribbean however, he is based out of the Barbados office but his ambit stretches over 10 territories including Antigua, Barbados, Cayman, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent and Trinidad and Tobago.

Michael’s focus is on customer relationship management but he plays a large role in bringing the global resources available at Gallagher to the Caribbean and our clients. He is passionate about people development, engagement and the work we do in sustaining and developing the economies in which we operate.
